It’s all about the people.

Let’s be honest …

We don’t like to work, we like people.

When building a work community, we are cultivating. We create a culture that is not defined by certificates or status, and even it looks in some big companies. In my opinion, these are not authentic “work cultures”. These are corporate process systems. So what do we need in our “human blender” to incorporate people with each other?

A mindset.

We need people that are willing to work independently, not alone. They don’t have to be enthusiastic about everything that is happening, but they must be ready to talk.

Brian Chesky, Co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, wrote in his post about Don’t Fuck Up the Culture:

Culture is a thousand things, a thousand times.

We could name beliefs, core values, routines and passion in general…

But what is this culture NOT?

  • It is NOT just a feeling.
  • It is NOT an asset
  • It is NOT “created” overnight
  • It is NOT a delegation

Why?

I recall some words from an old post about The power of community:

Work culture is an organism 🌱

It moves, it is dynamic, and it changes over time. The important word is time. To establish a sustainable work culture and community, we need time. It is the result of small and consistent actions for which everybody is responsible. It is a constant cycle that some contribute, while others benefit — and the other way round. How should companies create a culture?

Take care of your people 🌱

Give your employees the chance to express their opinions, take care of their health and celebrate their successes. The power follows the principle “cause and effect” and will help create a sustainable work culture and grow your communities organically.
